Notes |
- DEATH: James Holmes sailed for America, leaving his wife and 2 babies behind in England. He kept a diary, which I no longer have. But in the diary, he described life on the sailing ship, the sickness, the storms, etc. When he finally reached St. Louis, he found a job digging wells. His wife, Betsy, and their two very young daughters, accompanied her to America. When she finally arrived in St. Louis, she discovered that James had been stricken with appendicitis, and he died two weeks before her arrival.
DEATH: Betsy Hart was devastated. She eventually left the Mormon church, was later re-baptized, and finally married Emanuel Long.
DEATH: Jamey Hart was a poet, wrote beautifully and copiously about his love for his wife and two daughters.
